Title:
Non-Towered Airport Opperations
Topic:
Decision-Making for Pilots: Safely Operating Into Non-Towered Airports
Date and Time:
Sunday, March 22, 2026, starting at 10:00 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Matt Carlson
Brief Description:

Non-towered airports present a unique set of challenges to pilots. While the FAA has given us standard procedures, there are a myriad of variables as to why these standards may differ at an unfamiliar airport. Terrain, noise abatement and intensive flight training are just a few reasons that we may encounter the unexpected.

How can we plan and prepare to make the right Pilot In Command decisions when we are headed to a non-towered airport? What are some common traps we can avoid?

Join Flight Instructor Matt Carlson as we discuss safe procedures at the Auburn Airport specifically, and non-towered airports in general. We will cover the AIM Chapter 4-3, the Chart Supplement, and the PHAK Chapter 14. Feel free to read these in advance.
