Additional Event Information & Acknowledgement of Industry Sponsor(s):

Dick Neher, Manager, Senior Aeronautical Information Specialist of the National Aeronautical Charting Office (NACO) will present us with a visual chart synopsis: The Communication Challenges of The Chart Maker and the Pilot. If there was ever a need for clear, unequivocal communication it has to be that which must occur between the chart maker and the pilot. This seminar will show the linkage between the chart maker, or “coder” of information, and the pilot, the “decoder” of information, by reviewing and relating chart symbols to real world flight applications. Topics will include: Airspace, Airports, Obstructions, Night Flight, and those #@$!@ TFR’s. We will build situational awareness through the use of chart legends and the Airport Facility Directory. Have you ever wrestled with a chart in the cockpit? Our chart reading tips will help you organize your chart for your next flight. We will ask and answer those tough questions like ... What am I flying over? Who’s Airspace am I in? How do I avoid TFR’s? What altitude should I be at? How do I fold a chart for flight? How come I get lost… even when I have the chart in front of me?
