This ground-school only course covers topics such as:

• Reading a sectional chart.
• Figuring out where you are and where you are going.
• Finding an airport.
• Overview of basic navigation.
• Finding the nearest airport on the GPS.
• How to use the radios.
• What to listen for and how to talk to Air Traffic Control.
• Special frequencies for emergencies, lost communications and weather.
• Airport frequencies and where to find them.

 

...so you can enjoy flying more and be a better Flying Companion.

Pre-registration with and pre-payment to the San Diego 99's is required. SEATING IS LIMITED TO 20 people. The program will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with a break for lunch. Call Heather at 858-735-8298 for details and registration.

The seminar will be conducted by Ventura 99 Charlotte Alexander, a Gold Seal CFI, CFII, MEI with an ATP. She has been doing this seminar in the Ventura/Oxnard area for several years.

This seminar will be held in conjunction with the San Diego Super Safety Seminar taking place all day at the San Diego Air & Space Museum facility at Gillespie Field.

Pilots flying into Gillespie for the seminars should park on the transient ramp and look for the posted phone number to call for a ride to the Air & Space Museum facility on the north side of the airfield.
