The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has made the reduction of Runway Incursions and Surface Incidents one of its top priorities. As part of this program, the FAA, in conjunction with airport authorities across the nation, is conducting Runway Safety Action Team (RSAT) meetings at individual airports. The purpose of these RSAT meetings is to gather the individuals who are actively engaged in airside movements of aircraft and vehicles and have an open discussion on how to improve runway safety. The operation of the airport is discussed; both from the control tower and from the airport management perspective including the review of past runway incursions and surface incidents. As a result of the meeting, a list of recommendations is generated which are then tracked to completion.
On July 21, 2011, the FAA and the Elmira-Corning Regional Airport (ECRA) will conduct an RSAT meeting at the airport. The RSAT will begin at 4:00pm and take place at the conference room next to the restaurant in the ECRA main terminal. The meeting should conclude by 6:00. Following the meeting Ann Crook, the ECRA manager, is offering airside tours. We are inviting all airport users to attend. Invited groups include airport management, air traffic, FSDO, USAir, Delta and Allegiant airlines, Atlantic Aviation, Corning Aviation, First Flight, Sikorsky, Wings of Eagles, First Air, EAA, T-hangar tenants and any pilots that operate at the airport.

Directions: Traveling east or west on I-86/Rt17, take the Exit 50 to Kahler Road. Go north on Kahler Road to Sing Sing Road. Turn right on Sing Sing Road. Airport entrance is approximately 1/2 mile on right-hand side; just follow the signs. Meeting in conference room next to the restaurant in the ECRA main terminal.
