On September 1, 2004 the new Sport Pilot/Light Sport Aircraft rule went into effect. While the rule is in effect some administrative functions are still being ironed out and the FAA is still working on the finer details on the of certification of pilots, flight instructors, repairmen and aircraft. The Sport Pilot/Light Sport Aircraft initiative was a collaborative effort of industry and government. The entire aviation community will benefit from this partnership. This program will present the FAA's latest information
on the Sport Pilot and Light Sport Aircraft rule. Subjects that will be
discussed include Sport Pilot and Sport Pilot Authorized Flight Instructor
certification, Repairman certification, defining a Light Sport Aircraft, and
Light Sport Aircraft certification. Training requirements for inspecting or
maintaining light sport aircraft are also on the agenda.
