Don't miss this landmark event at the Syracuse Airport. This Safety STAND DOWN will feature numerous interactive workshops for pilots and flight instructors on important safety issues including Approach & Landing, Awareness of Local Issues, New Technology, Recurrent Training & Flying in the Adirondacks. Presenters include SYR ATC, the FAA Safety Team & SENSIS.

Safety Stand Down at Syracuse

8:30 AM - 10:20 AM:   Interactive Workshop for pilots and flight instructors on "take-off, landing, and low level maneuvering" presented by FAA Safety Team Representative Jim Ambrose.  CFIs: Included in this workshop is credit for Module 6 of the CFI Renewal Workshop series.

10:30 - 11:40 AM:   Guido Hassig with the FAA Safety Team will unveil the new and improved FAASafety.gov website and WINGs Pilot Proficiency Program scheduled to be launched in early March.

12:45 -1:20 PM:  A representative from SENSIS  will present their latest product called Wide Area Multilateration (WAM) that assists ATC in vectoring aircraft in mountainous terrain.

1:30-2:30 PM:  Pete Griffin, Air Traffic Controller and Quality Assurance Specialist from SYR ATC will discuss local airport safety issues and recent changes at the SYR airport.  Time will be alloted for "ask the local controller."  

2:45- 4:00   Flying the Adirondacks....mitigating risk and best practices.
