Topic:
Aircraft loss of control.
Brief Description:
Loss of Control refers to airplane accidents that result from situations in which the pilot should have maintained or regained aircraft control but did not. Stall/spin accidents tend to be more deadly than other types of GA accidents, accounting for about 10 percent of all accidents, but 13.7 percent of fatal accidents. Overall, around 20 percent of all GA accidents result in fatalities, but stall/spin accidents have a fatality rate of about 28 percent. This briefing will discuss the factors, problems, and practical solutions related to loss of control.

Join your fellow pilots in an open discussion about a major cause of accidents -- loss of control. Participants will identify major external factors leading to loss of control, discuss why pilots sometimes fail to adequately handle those factors, and identify some practical solutions to those problems. In addition, you will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the new WINGS program.
Flying into the event? After landing, taxi northbound on taxiway E (old runway 35, now closed) to the end. Park on the wide area at the north end of the taxiway before turning into Emerson Aviation. Bring your own chocks.
Driving? Take US Rte 3, the Laconia-Gilford Bypass, northbound to the end. At the end of the bypass (traffic light), turn left onto Rte 11. At the next traffic light, turn left onto Rte 11C. Follow Rte 11C about 1.3 miles to Kimball Road. Turn right onto Kimball Road. Follow Kimball Road to Emerson Aviation.
