Topic:
We Focus on Technology-Management Skills that Help Prevent an Automation Surprise from Becoming an Emergency
Date and Time:
Thursday, September 10, 2026, starting at 19:00 Central Daylight Time (17:00 PDT; 18:00 MDT; 20:00 EDT; 14:00 HST; 16:00 AKDT; 17:00 Arizona; Friday, September 11, 2026 00:00 GMT)
Speaker(s):
Captain Brian Schiff, Captain Mike Jesch
Brief Description:

In this episode of THE SCHIFF SHOW, Captains Brian Schiff and Captain Mike Jesch have a practical discussion about the equipment that can make flying safer—but only when pilots truly understand how to use it.

We’ll examine a recent fatal accident involving a YouTube creator whose escalating pitch-control difficulties and confusion about autopilot and trim operation led to pilot-induced oscillations and a loss of control. The NTSB found no evidence of a mechanical problem that would have prevented normal operation.
