Title:
Phoenix Deer Valley Airport Local Runway Safety Action Team Meeting - Web Only
Topic:
2-Hour Annual Airport Stakeholder Meeting on Local Runway Safety Issues
Speaker(s):
Matthew Goguen, Ed Faron, Fernado Morales, FAA Safety Team Program Managers, Cary Grant
Brief Description:
Runway Safety Action Teams
Runway Safety Action Teams (RSAT) bring local airport stakeholders together at least once a year to identify risks to surface safety at that airport and develop plans to mitigate or eliminate those risks. RSAT's provide the foundation of the Runway Safety Program at individual airports. The RSAT meetings are the primary forum for pinpointing and addressing airport-specific risk in the surface environment. The product of an RSAT meeting is a Runway Safety Action Plan in which the stakeholders document and agree to pursue specific actions intended to improve surface safety.

The FAA Safety Team promotes and encourages pilots to view the FAA's Runway Safety Action Team's "From the Flight Deck" video series. In addition, the Arizona Aviation Safety Advisory Group has produced similar videos for Marana (AVQ), Sedona (SEZ), and Cottonwood (P52) which may be viewed on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTBHrJnpGeo, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWrb-xCK1rA and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpOS4yi7oGM. Before visiting any of these airports for the first time or the hundredth time, it is better to "know before you go."
Thanks to the Scottsdale FSDO's Ken Nettles, Office Manager; Tina Buskirk, Assistant Office Manager; Jeffrey Larson, Scottsdale Flight Standards District Office, Front Line Manager (Operations); Ernest R. Copeland, FAA Safety Team Program Manager (Airworthiness); Craig Tompkins, FAA Safety Team Program Manager (Operations) for their constant support of this, and endless other, aviation safety events and products.
