Title:
Advice to Pilots An SFO Controllers Guide to Class B Operations and VFR Transitions
Topic:
Flying in the San Francisco Class B Airspace is challenging under VFR. Join us as an SFO ATC makes it easy for all.
Date and Time:
Saturday, October 17, 2020, starting at 12:00 Pacific Daylight Time (13:00 MDT; 14:00 CDT; 15:00 EDT; 09:00 HST; 11:00 AKDT; 12:00 Arizona; 19:00 GMT)
Speaker(s):
Daniele Ferlito
Brief Description:

Flying in Class Bravo airspace can be intimidating.  Pilots are often unfamiliar with the workings of Class B air traffic controllers and the commercial operations that go on there. It can be overwhelming when tower controllers issue rapid-fire instructions. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be this way.

Come spend an evening with Daniele Ferlito, a current Air Traffic Controller at SFO Tower. Daniele will talk you through the do’s and don'ts of VFR pilots transitioning through the dense Class B airspace around the SF Bay Area, along with delving into daily operations at SFO. Learn how to safely transition along one of the many transition routes, avoid jet traffic, and how to effectively work with controllers.

After the seminar, you’ll have more confidence the next time you call up San Francisco Tower with a bay tour request. If you’ve ever wondered how ATCs make decisions on the fly and keep our airspace moving quickly and safely, this is a great chance to learn more!

Daniele Ferlito is a current Air Traffic Controller at San Francisco International Airport, he strives to provide the best quality service to VFR pilots in the Bay Area. He is very courteous to VFR pilots and is always willing to accommodate them.
