Our speakers are highly experienced individuals.  Lieutenant EMT Tim Lively has 25 years of fire fighting experience.  He is a fire science instructor at Spokane Community College, and an Instructor in the Washington State Fire Training Academy located in North Bend.  Fire Fighter EMT Chris Wetherell has 15 years of experience.  Both LT Lively and Fire Fighter Wetherell are instructors within ARFF.

What if -- your engine seized and your best bet is to dead stick into KGEG.  What if -- there's a curl of smoke drifting up from the panel... What if -- your oil pressure is dropping, your cylinder head temps are climbing and you just need to get down ... FAST!  What can you expect when you arrive on the runway?

LT Lively and Fire Fighter Wetherell, assisted by members of Shift A of Spokane International Airport (SIA) ARFF will discuss ARFF services, communication capabilities, and ARFF apparatus.  Equipment capability will be demonstrated to participants.  SIA ARFF is a highly capable unit that constantly trains to handle emergency situations involving all aircraft types.  Emergencies can occur in any weather, on any day, and at any time of the day.  SIA ARFF is a 24 hour operation that can appropriately respond to any emergency every day of the year.

LT Lively and Fire Fighter Wetherell will discuss aircraft airbags, extricatation equipment, how they lift and move aircraft involved in gear-up landings, how injured persons receive appropriate care, communications, and other topics.  Participants will also learn practical tips on how to use fire extinguishers commonly found in hangars or in aircraft.
