Title:
Monthly Safety Meeting
Topic:
Expectation Bias -- An Insidious Aviation Phenomenon
Speaker(s):
Felix Bohn (Commercial Pilot - SEL, MEL, Instrument Airplane and Flight Instructor - SEL, MEL, Instrument Airplane)
Brief Description:
There exists a psychological phenomenon that has contributed to and/or led to countless aviation misunderstandings, incidents, accidents, and even fatalities -- and yet we seldom recognize it until it is too late. Professional pilot and Flight Instructor Felix Bohn has developed a presentation to explain how expectation-bias can happen to even the most seasoned pilots and what we can do to mitigate (if not eliminate) it. Mr. Bohn flies professionally for Aerospace N3xt as a Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor (with Single and Multiengine Airplane and Instrument ratings and 1400 hours in turbine and piston aircraft). WINGS credit will be awarded to attendees.
