Title:
Farewell to Tower Dave and Fly the Airplane First!
Topic:
Farewell to Tower Dave and Fly the Airplane First
Date and Time:
Tuesday, June 27, 2023, starting at 19:00 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Tower Dave, Art Hayssen, Jim McCord
Brief Description:

Our valued colleague, who has kept us safe in the traffic pattern at KSTS for many years, is retiring at the end of June!  Join us in-person as we say our farewells to “Tower Dave” and hear some of his favorite moments from controlling air traffic at KSTS.  Bring some of your own favorite “Tower Dave” stories to share.

Fly the Airplane First: We all know the priority when flying: #1 Aviate, #2 Navigate, #3 Communicate.  Aviate (#1) means to fly the airplane first!  But when something goes wrong, like an engine failure, or even something as simple as a landing gear light bulb, good pilots can sometimes get distracted and forget to fly the airplane first.

We will look at some examples of times pilots did, and did not, fly the airplane first, and share some tips on how to manage priorities when an emergency happens.
