Brief Description:

My Aging Aircraft - Is it Airworthy?

Are you ever concerned about flying an aircraft that may be as old (or older) than you are?  Just like you and me, the aircraft we fly are getting older; however, they may not be able to communicate directly with us to tell what “ailments” they may be experiencing.  It’s up the pilot to perform a thorough preflight inspection, monitor the aircraft during flight, and conduct a post flight review to assure the airplane is safe for our intended flight and will be ready to fly the next occasion we choose.

Unless, you are able to afford a brand new Cirrus, Piper, Cessna, or Beechcraft, we are all flying “aging aircraft,” either rented or owned.   It is essential to know what clues can assure us of a safe flight or to make a wise decision not to fly.

Our guest speaker, Curtis Boulware, owns and manages Baker Aviation, Inc., a maintenance shop at New Smyrna Beach Airport.  He is a pilot and a very experienced A&P/IA who enjoys flying, repairing & maintaining airplanes, and sharing his knowledge at various pilot and maintenance training events.  You will benefit from an interactive discussion with Curtis as he describes our fleet of aging aircraft, the problems we can identify as pilots, and how to fix these issues or mitigate associated risks.

Come join this discussion with your fellow aviators and mechanics for a review of aging aircraft.  This seminar will offer you 1 Knowledge Credit for your WINGS phase or 1 AMT Training Credit.  It will also serve as the monthly IMC Club meeting.  Your knowledge & experience is valuable to your fellow pilots; please participate and share your knowledge so we all become safer aviators.
