What is the best glide speed?  Is it the best glide for speed?  Is it the best glide for distance?  How does one determine the best glide speed for their particular aircraft? 

Gary Miranda will guide us through the process of determining best glide speed for your aircraft and explain how weight factors in determining glide speed and minimum sink rate.  He will also offer tips and tricks you can apply to a real emergency when you need that extra distance or need to land on an exact spot.

Take 182 or Hwy 395 to the 20th Ave. Exit.  Head north toward the Tri-Cities Airport.  At the stop light at 20th and Argent, turn right onto Argent Rd.  At next  stop sign, turn left onto Stearman going north about ¾ mile to Bergstrom Aircraft on left side of road.

Capt. Miranda is a retired Major Airline pilot who came up through the GA ranks.  Gary has over 27000+ hrs. of flight time and has been a flight instructor since 1979. 

He is the current State WPA Director at Large and the President of the SW WPA Chapter.

He previously owned a flight operation in the Spokane WA area during the 1980s, specializing in Accelerated Pilot Training and Aviation Flyouts.  He now specializes in Technically Advanced Aircraft, Tailwheel, Advanced IFR, and Mountain flying courses in the SW Washington area.
