Title:
Poplar Grove IMC and VMC Safety
Topic:
Your Own Risk into Montgomery (VFR) and Cruisin’ into Steven Bean (IFR)
Date and Time:
Wednesday, February 8, 2023, starting at 19:00 Central Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Larry Martin
Brief Description:

VFR

What should have been a routine flight gets an unexpected twist: Tower clears you to land on a runway you don’t feel is safe but won’t clear you to land on one that looks much better. Will you go with the clearance, insist on your preference, or make an impromptu change at night and in busy airspace?

IFR

If your POH says flight into known icing is prohibited, you can’t do it. But icing in the real world isn’t so cut-and-dried. How will you complete a flight that hasn’t seen a hint of ice, even in sub-freezing temps, but where descending into the clouds below you could be a non-event—or an emergency you’re ill-equipped to handle.

Members discuss short videos and how they would respond to the given scenario(s).  This is an open forum for free ideas and we all learn from shared experience!   All are welcome to join in.  With the combined IFR & VFR scenarios' this seminar should be 2 hours long and enhance everyone's education.

Prior to attending a safety seminar please review and abide by current CDC, State and Local health guidelines.
