What is PRD?

Pilot Records Database (PRD) is an electronic database managed by the FAA used to house and share pilot records among air carriers and other operators. It provides air carriers and operators critical safety information so they can make informed, pilot hiring decisions.

Who is required to use it?

According to the FAA’s  14 CFR Part 111 rule, operators in part 121, 121/135, 125, 135, 91K, air tour (91.147) operators, Part 91 (non-certificated) operators with two or more type-rated aircraft or turbine powered rotorcraft, public aircraft operators, and trustees appointed by a bankruptcy court are required to use and submit records in PRD.

These webinars are useful to all pilots as it will discuss how pilots can verify their data is correct, which could be important to their aviation careers. Webinar 1 will help pilots understand how to check their records in the PRD.

What are the deadlines?

Operators and entities that fall under the Part 111 rule, must:

  • Beginning June 10, 2022:
    1. Begin reporting historical records to the PRD.
    2. Report new pilot records to the PRD within 30 days.
  • By June 12, 2023: Complete the reporting of their pilot records dated on January 1, 2015 or later.
  • By September 9, 2024: Complete all other older pilot records.
