Brief Description:

As an aircraft owner / operator, do you know which maintenance actions Part 43 allows you to perform, and what the requirements are if you do perform any maintenance?  Are you familiar with the term “Aging Aircraft”? Should you preflight your aircraft any differently after it has been in for maintenance? What does corrosion look like and why does it matter?

In addition, an Advisory Circular (updated AC-43-12A, with change 1) regarding preventive maintenance is also attached. The AC as well as the pamphlet are free to download!  Wide distribution is encouraged!

DRIVING IN: From I-4 take exit 25 southbound, make a left turn on Drane Field Road, make a right turn on Waring Road and a right turn on Old Medulla Road which will change to Airside Center Drive. The Polk State College - Aerospace Airside building (big sign is on front of building) will be on your right. Please park in any of the available free parking spots. Additional free parking is available in the adjacent parking lot to the southwest.

FLYING IN: Ask ground control for Sheltair and once there, request a ride to Polk State College Airside which is adjacent to the south side fuel farm.

Mark Laughridge has been in involved in aviation maintenance for 40 years, with 32 of those years with the FAA. Mark holds an A&P, IA, Commercial Pilot certificate and is a Parachute Senior Rigger and has vast experience in many aspects of both general and commercial aviation. Mark is an FAA Airworthiness Inspector as well as an FAA Safety Team Program Manager for the FAA's Orlando FSDO.

Mark Ducorsky is the 2017 NATIONAL FAA SAFETY TEAM REPRESENTATIVE OF THE YEAR and 2016 DISTRICT and REGIONAL Flight Instructor of the Year. Mark is a Designated Pilot Examiner for glider and airplane (single and multi-engine) categories. An ATP, Gold Seal, Master Instructor, CFI-A, CFI-I, CFI-ME, CFI-Glider and Check Instructor. Mark began flight at age 14 and has given over 7,000 hours of flight and ground instruction and spent thousands of hours traveling extensively in a variety of single and multi-engine aircraft throughout North America enjoying single pilot operations throughout all seasons and geographies.
