Speaker(s):

Brief Description:

Have you ever taken a kid on their first flight? As a pilot, having the opportunity to ignite the passion for aviation in a young person's soul means the world, but you need to keep in mind that safety always comes first. With new passengers, a pilot needs to take many safety precautions.

In this seminar, EAA Chapter 20’s president Oliver Coolidge and Elizabeth will cover the procedures to safely conduct an EAA Young Eagles flight. Review passenger management techniques and get prepared for San Carlos Flight Center and EAA Chapter’ 20’s joint Young Eagles event on June 15th.

Oliver Coolidge is the president of EAA Chapter 20. He started flying in 1969 and is a retired FedEx captain with over 14,000 hours of flying. He owns a vintage 1954 Cessna 195 and has a new project with a 1971 Beechcraft Bonanza G33 "straight tail". He also is involved with the Flying 12 Club which is building a Van's RV-12. Chapter 20 was recently the recipient of an EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship which has awarded a $10,000 flying scholarship to a local young aviator.

Elizabeth Dougherty is a freelance writer and editor. She is involved in EAA Chapter 20 and helps coordinate monthly Young Eagle events at San Carlos Airport.
