Title:
Density Altitude Considerations
Topic:
Density Altitude and its effect on aircraft performance.
Date and Time:
Wednesday, March 27, 2019, starting at 19:00 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Smokey Young
Brief Description:

As spring approaches and the skies begin to clear we have the opprtunity to get out and do more flying.  However as outside temperatures increase we need to be aware of how this will effect the performance of our aircraft, particularly as we head to popular spots in the foothills and the high Sierras.  This presentation offers a review of Density Altitude.  We will take a look at the different ways performance is degraded by increases in Density Altitude and what causes these effects.  We will also look at examples and case studies which illustrate the effect of higher Density Altitudes.  Finally we will review some techniques for dealing with "High, Hot and Humid" the conditions that lend themselves to a high Density Altitude.
