Title:
ADS and FIS Operations
Topic:
How to get the most out of new ADS-B and FIS-B capabilities.
Brief Description:
In just nine months, aircraft operating where transponders are currently required must have ADS-B OUT systems installed. What does ADS-B OUT do for us as pilots? Well, it gives ATC a much more precise view of where we are and where we are going. What does ADS-B IN do for us as pilots? Well, it gives us a much better view of where we are in relation to other aircraft (and probably at some point, in relation to many drones).
Join us at AeroDynamic Aviation at the Reid-Hillview airport in San Jose, on Saturday, March 16 at 4:00 pm. We will briefly review the evolution and limitations of current transponder and traffic system technology and how ADS-B enhances those capabilities. We will reserve most of our time for a discussion on how to best utilize ADS-B IN for traffic awareness, and how to best utilize FIS-B for operational awareness - it's more than just weather. For those who are aircraft owners, we will consider FAR compliance. For aircraft renters, we will consider inexpensive options for adding situational awareness to every aircraft you fly. See you there!
