Title:
Dont Get Frosted
Topic:
Aircraft Icing
Date and Time:
Saturday, December 1, 2018, starting at 12:00 Pacific Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Dave Kramer Ground Instructor
Brief Description:

Embedded convection and icing are the IFR pilot’s biggest threat.  These two phenomenon can bring down rapidly and uncontrollably all aircraft.   This seminar will focus on icing.

How do you know where icing is and what the level of risk is?  What conditions do you need for it to form and what type of icing can you encounter?  Is all icing created equal and if not where will you find the bad boys? Join Dave as discusses Scott Deansteadt’s (former NWS meteorologist, CFII and developer of Aviation Weather Workshops and the Weather Sprk APP) approach to icing and how to avoid it.

Dave Kramer MD, an ophthalmologist for over 30 years, is an instrument rated, tailwheel, complex and high performance endorsed commercial SEL pilot as well as a basic and instrument ground instructor with an interest in weather. He has been flying since 2012, has over 1000 hours of which over 400 have been in the IFR system.  He also enjoys long cross country flying, night flying and flying in the LA area.

This event qualifies for FAA Wings credit.
