Title:
Why Do Good Pilots Make Bad Decisions?
Topic:
Review of accidents by AOPA ASI Exec Director Richard McSpadden, looking into the reason why good pilots, make bad decisions.
Date and Time:
Thursday, September 20, 2018, starting at 19:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Mr. Richard McSpadden
Brief Description:

The Treasure Coast FAASTeam is proud to host a seminar presented by AOPA ASI Executive Director Richard McSpadden. Mr. McSpadden will review recent accidents, the elements surrounding them, and discuss why good pilots made bad decisions. Richard will rely on research from the books “Think Again”, and “Thinking Fast, and Slow” which dissect the way the brain makes decisions. He’ll lead the audience through some shortfalls of the human decision-making process and the implications of those shortfalls in an aviation environment. The discussion will close with an exercise to identify and mitigate red flags which could lead to poor aviation decision making.

The FAA, along with your Treasure Coast FAASTeam, encourage all aviation minded people to attend our every third Thursday of the month safety seminars.  It does not matter the certificate or rating you hold, if you know somebody with an interest in aviation, whether it’s your mechanic, another pilot, your right seat buddy or just somebody with as much interest in aviation safety as you do, please bring that friend with you to one of our next seminars.
