Brief Description:

Over the past ten years approximately 65% of GA accidents have occurred during maneuvering flight. Maneuvering flight is defined as flight below 1000 feet AGL, flight involving steep turns and aerobatic flight. In this seminar we will discuss the aerodynamics of maneuvering flight and how to mitigate risk through an understanding of the aerodynamic and structural limitations of our aircraft. In addition we will discuss some techniques for minimizing risk during maneuvering flight.

The instructor, Smokey Young, is a current airline pilot and former USAF fighter pilot and Fighter Weapons School graduate.  In addition to airline and military flying, Smokey has extensive experience in General Aviation to include air racing in Europe with Aero GP and as a Formula 1 pilot at the Reno Air Races, He has also worked as a flight instructor, college aviation instructor, aerial banner towing pilot and taught aerobatic and formation flying.
