If you ever fly to Oregon, you know that it is a state full of mountains, valleys and weather.  In fact during the winter half of the year, southern Oregon is a favorite route of the jet stream.  Medford lies in this area and is a favorite destination and fuel stop. Knowing how to stay clear of terrain is the primary goal of the IFR pilot and if you are VFR, learning how IFR pilots do it can only make your flying safer, especially true at night.

The Medford MFR LOC DME BC B approach has it all:

Brian Eliot is San Carlos Flight Center’s resident expert for IFR training and Garmin G1000 avionics. He has been flying since 1995 and received all his training in the Bay Area. Brian previously worked as a broadcast engineer, a software developer, and taught computer science at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He regularly presents at San Carlos Flight Center safety seminars and has a reputation for making complex concepts easy to learn and understand.

Directions to Room: Pilots who fly in should park in transient parking on the opposite side of the field and expect to walk about 10 minutes (.5 mile) to the Flight Center. Suite 215 is upstairs in the northwest corner. On occasion, rides may be prearranged through San Carlos Aviation and Supply.
