Title:
Legal Charter Flights Operational Control and SCAMS!
Topic:
Understanding the requirements to be a legal charter operator.
Speaker(s):
FAASTeam Program Manager Lanny Cline
Brief Description:
This event will focus on the rigorous requirements to be a legal charter operator. Attendees will understand the difference between air commerce, air transportation,"common carriage," and will be introduced to the requirements of operational control. In addition to addressing the responsibilities to be a legitimate operator, we will also examine how an Air Carrier Certificate and a Commercial Operator Certificate appear.
We will also discuss devious ways that some unscrupulous and non-certificated operators try to use to "legitimize illegal charter flights" and how this compromises aviation safety. We will also review some notable illegal charter cases.
