MOUNTAIN Flying and TRUCKEE TAHOE Airport - Expert explains How
Topic:
Safe General Aviation Flying at Truckee Tahoe Airport
Date and Time:
Tuesday, March 13, 2018, starting at 19:00 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Katherine Greenwood, Truckee Tahoe Airport District
Brief Description:

The Truckee Tahoe Airport District and Santa Barbara Flying Club invite you to join us for an in-depth look at flying in mountainous terrain and into Truckee Tahoe Airport.

Lake Tahoe is a great destination, but pilots must be aware of terrain and weather effects in the mountainous terrain and unique factors when flying in and out of Truckee. Our speaker will discuss considerations for flying in the mountains, including winds and weather, night operations, icing, density altitude and aeromedical factors. She will also focus on unique factors to consider when flying in an out of Truckee airport (KTRK) such as non-towered airport operations, route planning, sharing airspace with gliders, downdrafts to watch for, and detailed arrival and departure planning information. This seminar is recommended to anyone planning a flight into the Truckee-Tahoe area. Length: 2 hours
