Loss of Control happens for a number of reasons; poor stick and rudder skills, a late decision to go-around, a misapplication of rudder in maneuvering flight, misuse of the airspeed indicator, or general lack of familiarity with the aircraft and its equipment.

Upsets don't happen in isolation. In most cases one thing leads to another.  We'll look at how slow flight is defined in the ACS and the purpose of slow flight.  Stall and Spin practice at altitude and in training to prevent misapplication of controls close to the ground. The unintended departure from controlled flight happens when the aircraft enters a flight regime outside the normal flight envelope.  Because it is unintended the pilot is usually surprised.  Failure to recognize an aerodynamic stall or spin and execute corrective action and inadvertent misapplication of controls are a few contributing factors.  We'll discuss how a spin develops, loss of control scenarios and recovery from a spin.

If you plan to fly in communicate on Paso Robles Airport CTAF/ Unicom Frequency on 123.0.  Airport runway lights operate from dusk to 2200.  After 2200 activate by CTAF.  Parking is available at the terminal ramp.  For further information call the Airport Manager at (805)237-3877.

We'd like to thank the following sponsors of this event: Paso Robles Municipal Airport for providing the facility for the meeting; Pilot Examiner, Eric Cook for his assistance.
