Conducting a proper airworthiness preflight is critical for every flight, prebuy, checkride, and ramp check.
Brief Description:
Advanced Preflight: A preflight examines the aircraft to help ensure it is both safe and legal for flight, making it airworthy. An advanced preflight examines the aircraft, its documentation, and the relevant certification, maintenance, and operational requirements to help ensure it is demonstrably safe and legal for flight. When does an advanced preflight matter? When your checklist needs to reflect all the stuff that has been removed or added since the aircraft was new, when the aircraft is coming out of maintenance, and not least, when you want your upcoming checkride to start off smoothly.
Ray Owen is ATP, AGI, IGI, and a member of the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators and the American Bonanza Society. His pride and joy is a V35B Bonanza based at Reid-Hillview airport in San Jose. His day job is working with early-stage startups developing enterprise technologies.
