Brief Description:

Various IFR and VFR topics presented by CFIs and DPEs from across the area, as well as an overview of Wisconsin Air National Guard operations and airspace issues. Between 8:30AM and 10:00AM tours will be available of the control tower and RAPCON as well as the base museum. The base will be open to visitors beginning at 8:30, seminar presentations begin at 10:00 AM ending at 3:00 PM with an hour break for lunch beginning at noon.

Wisconsin Military Airspace explained to you by the folks at Volk Field.

Loss of Control statistics presented by Jurg Grossenbacher, FAAST Program Manager and FAA Safety Representative Steve Messner.

IFR weather by Dale Raymakers of DTN services.

VFR weather presented by Peter Rogers of NWS in La Crosse.

IFR without the use of GPS presented by Elaine Kauh, Master CFI and FAAST Safety Representative.

Accident studies presented by Woody Minar FAAST Safety Representative of the Minneapolis FSDO

For those driving: Take exit 55 off of Interstate 90/94 for County Road C toward Camp Douglas/Volk Field and drive in toward the guard shack and gate. Gate attendant will provide directions to the building.

All attendees must register for the event before September 25th. Registration instructions are located on the WisDOT's website; http://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/doing-bus/aeronautics/trng-evnts/ifrvfr-sem.aspx.

For those flying in: All pilots must obtain a landing slot at the link on the WisDOT's website at least one week prior to the event.
