Title:
Avoiding Thunderstorms - a continuous learning processes
Topic:
Scenario discussion - Avoiding Thunderstorms - it’s a continuous learning processes
Date and Time:
Monday, June 19, 2017, starting at 19:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Victor Cordero
Brief Description:

Another weather related accident with a very experienced pilot occurred in April 2017 near Williston, FL. Flight data information specific to the accident airplane will reveal the "whys and how's" of this preventable accident.  We will review the details of this accident and determine if aircraft specifications and flight performance played a role.

Please join the conversation to determine how we can improve our chances while practicing thunderstorm avoidance.   Can Air Traffic Control assist you before you get in trouble?  Will asking for a 'block altitude' help?  What are your specific suggestions for avoiding thunderstorms?

Explore the things that you may NOT have considered when you make that decision to tackle Mother Nature at its worst.  Would you make the RIGHT decisions given the same information on flight conditions as the pilot of this accident aircraft?   Are you sure?

Thunderstorm weather is upon us and a good discussion on this subject is warranted.  Come join the discussion with your fellow aviators and learn what they would do in this particular scenario.  This seminar will offer you 1 Knowledge Credit for your WINGS phase and will serve as the monthly IMC Club meeting.  Your opinion is valuable to other pilots with less experience than you may have; please participate and share.
