Brief Description:

In this seminar we will learn about the specific considerations for safely operating seaplanes, such as handling seaplanes in the water, choosing landing areas, detecting and using wind speed and direction information, how float planes make approaches and landings, glassy water challenges and what it takes to earn a rating.

Our speaker, Gordon Mills, ASES CFI, and his wife Sandy co-own and operate Alpine Aviation in Grass Valley, California. The company offers training, maintenance, charters and FBO services. An FAASafety representative, Gordon has 12,000 hours of flight time with 6,000 hours of instruction. In addition to his ASES CFI rating, he has his CFII, commercial, multi-engine and ATP ratings and he is a certified A&P. During the past 15 years Gordon and his staff have been flying and maintaining a wide variety of aircraft. He has a Lake LA-4-200 or Lake Buccaneer for seaplane training and operations.
