Mike received his private pilot's license in 1980 and returned to Embry- Riddle University in 2002 where he received his advanced ratings and A&P certification. In 1998 he complete construction of a Lancair IV-P which was judged Grand Champion Kit Built at Oshkosh that same year. Prior to moving to the Bellingham area in 2014, Mike lived in Western North Carolina where he managed Jackson County airport and served on the county airport authority.
In July 2011, Mike and his then year 13 year old grandson embarked on a 48 State adventure, touching down in every state in just under seven days. The entire flight was completed in day VFR Some topics to be discussed :
