Are you considering learning the (nearly) lost art of operating a conventional gear, tailwheel airplane? Or, do you wish to hone your abilities and focus your attention on basic airmanship skills? 

Please join Shelbyville Flight Training Academy's Joe Roberts, as he introduces us to the art of taming the taildragger. Also, FAA Safety Team Mgr., Bob Hill, as he speaks to the differences of both tricycle and tailwheel airplanes, (both single and multiengine) and addresses the challenges that lead to both conventional gear and tricycle gear airplane mishaps.Moreiover, we are proud to have Mr. Charles McGaughy of Mack Air, discussing general maintenance of tailwheel assemblies.

Please welcome, Joe Roberts, Bob Hill, and Charles McGaughy.

Master of ceremonies, Joe Roberts provides insightful comments regarding his 50 plus years of operating and teaching the art of the tailwheel. Joe, and his wife Linda, are the proprietors of Shelbyville Flight Training Academy.

Bob has put together a comprehensive overview in PowerPoint (including videos) addressing the specifics of operating conventional gear (tailwheel) airplanes, compared with tricycle gear operations, Bob will also address multiengine tailwheel ops, to includie the B-17.

Charles will provide maintenance tips, the do's and don't's, and what is involved with preserving, and getting the best performance from your tailwheel assembly.

It's your chance to ask questions and hopefully benefit from Joe's 50 plus years of operating tailwheel airplanes, including instruction. Bob's 5400+ hrs. with tailwheel type airplanes, Including, over 1600 hrs. in three B-17's, and Charles' maintenance expertise. 

Bring your appetite along too. Because, (for a $5 donation to EAA Chapter 1326) lunch will be provided. There is a rumour that coffee and doughnuts will be available in the morning too. The program will run from 10 to 2pm.
