Brief Description:

sUAS, or Drones, have become extremely popular in the past few years.  Built on almost a century of unmanned and RC Aviation, multi-rotors are encouraging many into the exciting world of aviation.  

We will talk about the FAA regulatory framework surrounding sUAS, enabling new and existing users to fly safely and compliantly.  We will talk about best practices and introduce you to the experts and hobbyists a event where you can connect with other responsible drone pilots and builders.

This seminar will be located in the Modern Avionics Hanger located next to the Wisconsin Aviation Fixed Base of Operation (FBO). If flying in, park at the East Side of the Dane County Regional Airport and if unfamiliar with the airport layout ask Ground Control to taxi the Wisconsin Aviation FBO ramp.

Mr. Kirkpatrick will speak about the use of sUAS for the hobbyist giving his insight on the new Remote Pilot certificate.   Additionally, Mr. Kirkpatrick along with Mr. Johnson volunteer their expertise and time as FAA Safety Representatives for the Milwaukee Flight Standards District Office.

Dr. Johnson serves as the Director of Flight Simulation Research and an Associate Lecturer of Industrial and Systems Engineering at UW-Madison.  Dr. Johnson will discuss both the commercial and hobbyist application on sUAS and drone usage.

Mr. Morris has been with the Federal Aviation Administration for 10 years. During that time, he has worked with both large and small aircraft operators, served as an aircraft accident investigator, and been a sUAS specialist for the past 4 years. He is a vocal supporter of sUAS operations and their integration into the National Airspace System.

 

PLEASE NOTE; For anyone trying to gain more insight on FAA PART 107 Commercial Drone application please come out to the airport a little earlier and take part in The Wisconsin UAS Advisory Board meeting. This quarterly meeting will be held in the conference room at Wisconsin Aviation FBO located at the Dane County Regional Airport prior to the UAS seminar starting at 4:30 pm and ending prior to the seminar.
