The POH/AFM under Section 3, contains Procedures to Manage Emergencies. These Procedures do NOT contain details/guidance for off-nominal conditions, such as alternator failure during IMC or at night. In these situations, procedures will vary. What about other emergencies not in the POH/AFM such as vibrations, fuel/oil in the cockpt, or limited/reduced control power? It's the pilot's responsibility to manage the emergency to a safe outcome. This presentation will review select emergency procedures under various conditions and provide insight on managing emergencies that we normally would NOT find in the POH/AFM.

The FAASTeam would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all attendees, Mr. Fred Dohnke, and Mr. Joe Biviano for their support in promoting this FAASTeam Safety Seminar and, most importantly, for their continued commitment to advancing aviation safety within the General Aviation community.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Joe Biviano, a FAASTeam Representative from the VNY FSDO District, who graciously volunteered his time and expertise to discuss emergency procedures. Mr. Biviano brings an exceptional depth of experience to the aviation safety community, serving as a System Safety Engineer, Test Pilot, Accident Investigator, and former U.S. Navy Pilot. He is also a recipient of the FAA’s prestigious Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award.

Mr. Biviano is dedicated to sharing his extensive knowledge and real-world safety experiences with the General Aviation community. His efforts help pilots better understand the risks associated with aviation, improve preparedness for emergencies, and ultimately mitigate the potential for aircraft accidents.

From the entire FAASTeam, thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this seminar a success. Your commitment to aviation safety makes a difference!
