Brief Description:

EAA IMV/VMC Club provides a "hangar flying" experience organized around visual or instrument flight, in order to promote safety, education and proficiency.

Every meeting consists of a scenario presentation and group discussion about unusual or interesting charts, changed rules or procedures, and member experiences. We also have occasional guest speakers and snacks!

The VMC scenario titled "Fun with Flaps" is based on an actual flight as follows:
After practicing a number of commercial maneuvers to prepare for a checkride, you as our Cessna 172 pilot encounter an unusual mechanical issue while returning to the airport. How can you prepare for keeping the airplane under control in nonstandard configurations?

The  IMC scenario titled "Hard to Find" is inspired by an actual flight as follows:
You are flying a night IFR flight in a Beech Sierra to an unfamiliar airport. Fuel is running low, and you're having trouble spotting the airport. What can you do to ensure that you make it to your destination safely?

What is the EAA/IMC Club? 

EAA provides monthly program resources in the form of actual IMC related scenarios designed to encourage open discussion, and for all participants to answer the question “What would you do if this happened to you?” 

What is the purpose of EAA/IMC Club?

The purpose of EAA Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) Clubs is to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying.

EAA IMC Clubs are extensions to local EAA chapters and offer monthly IMC program meetings where pilots can network and share knowledge and experiences. 

Do you need to bring anything?

First, bring your thoughts or story and be willing to share them with the group.  This meeting is very interactive.  Participation by the group is a fundamental element to the EAA/IMC Club meeting.

Others have found it helpful to bring along a copy of their flight manual, GPS manual, and charts.  If you navigate with an iPad, bring it along.

Who can attend?

You don't need an instrument rating to attend.  This meeting is open to all current, non-current, and future instrument pilots.
