Topic:
Are You Ready to Fly into Oshkosh AirVenture 2026
Date and Time:
Tuesday, June 30, 2026, starting at 19:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Gary Baker
Brief Description:

AirVenture (Oshkosh) is a month away! Are you ready for the flight? Do you fly in VFR or IFR? Do you have any suggestions for other pilots on how you prepare? Do you have a paper copy of the Notam booklet?

We will review the procedures and look at some gotcha's to be aware of. Gary Baker has flown into Oshkosh almost every year since 1980, both VFR and IFR. He has also flown right-seat in the EAA Ford TriMotor many years and has seen most, but definitely not all, possible situations that come up during the flight. He will offer his knowledge gained over the years. We will also cover a suggested syllabus for an Oshkosh flight review.

Anyone who has flown in more than once is sure to have a good tip for others. Please bring your own suggestions.

Even if you don't attend this meeting, please Read the Notam, Print the Notam and Download the Notam! And then read the Notam again. And, again. Study it until you are very familiar with it, please!

Additional Event Information & Acknowledgement of Industry Sponsor(s):

EAA VMC Clubs are extensions to local EAA chapters and offer monthly meetings in which pilots can network and share knowledge and experience. The meetings use real-world scenarios to engage members, and allow a free exchange of information that improves awareness and skills. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency. Through the EAA VMC Club programs, visual flight rule pilots have improved their proficiency.
