Title:
Boca Raton Pilots Meeting - The Biplane that Defeated Nazi Germany
Topic:
How Pilot Training In WW2 Has Impacted Training and Safety
Speaker(s):
Dale Melichar
Brief Description:
When documentaries describe the airplanes that defeated Nazi Germany, they will often feature P51’s, B17’s, P38’s, B24’s, F6F’s, and F4U’s. But young farmers did not jump from their tractor to a fighter or bomber immediately. The lessons they learned from Boeing Stearman training continue to influence and guide training for new pilots and CFI’s to this day. In this seminar you will learn how training at the time was more dangerous than combat and how flight training had to evolve. This evolution still affects our training today.
