Title:
IMC Clubs - When the autopilot is not your friend
Topic:
Tonight we are talking about autopilots Your BFF - until it isn't.
Date and Time:
Monday, February 9, 2026, starting at 19:00 Central Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Chris Hope-Master CFII
Brief Description:

Pilots who return from a long layoff from flying are often amazed and a bit overwhelmed at the state of the “basic” instrument panel. Gone is the six-pack of round instruments and VORs, replaced with digital gauges and a moving map / GPS. But now also considered almost essential to any panel is a real working autopilot. For today’s instrument pilot, a working pilot is a best friend. Until it turns against us.

Has the autopilot ever turned against you in flight? Come share your experiences with those who have not seen this situation (but who will!)
