Title:
Collision Avoidance
Topic:
Collision Avoidance and Visual Scanning
Date and Time:
Saturday, September 20, 2025, starting at 09:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Craig Patterson
Brief Description:

Collision avoidance, in the air and on the ground, is one of the most basic responsibilities of a pilot operating an aircraft in visual conditions. During primary training, pilots are taught to keep their eyes outside the cockpit and look for conflicting traffic. But little formal instruction is given on the best ways to visually identify potential collision threats or on procedures that can lessen their risk of occurring. Make these spotlight’s strategies and tactics part of your standard procedures to keep the skies safer for you, and for those you share it with.
We will review where collisions happen, how to avoid runway incursions, scanning techniques, vision physiology, and situational awareness.
