Title:
Redbird Flight and Social Club Safety and Wings Meeting
Topic:
GO AROUND DECISION: DON'T LET THE MOMENT SLIP BY
Date and Time:
Saturday, August 16, 2025, starting at 10:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Darren Fleming
Brief Description:

86% of Approach and Landing Accidents could be prevented if the pilots made a timely decision to go around. Join us for a hangar discussion about why pilots might continue to try to fix an unstable approach instead of deciding to go around. Also learn some best practices on how to determine appropriate limits that make the go around decision easier.

Every meeting consists of a scenario presentation and group discussion.

The scenario(s) we will discuss at this meeting is/are: The Impossible Go-Around: You’ve got the whole family on board for a great weekend by the ocean at Falmouth Airpark (5B6). However, the landing attempt on a runway that’s short and obstructed didn’t go so well. Now you have only a second to decide if an attempted go-around will safely clear the trees—or result in a catastrophe. From pilotworshops.com VFR mastery scenario #14

All are welcome.  You do not need to be an Redbird Flight and Social Club member or a rated pilot to attend.

We will also be discussing how you can earn WINGS Credit.
