Title:
Huntsville IMC Club Meeting
Topic:
Scenario Based Discussion: Organized “Hangar Flying” Focused On Building Proficiency In Instrument Flying.
Date and Time:
Monday, August 19, 2024, starting at 19:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Darin Dunham
Brief Description:

Topic: Unstable RPMs in IMC Flight

Question of the Month: How much does a change in aircraft weight affect stall speed? For example, if an aircraft with a maximum gross weight of 2,000 lbs stalls at 50 kts, how much would stall speed change (and in what direction) if it were at an actual weight of 1,800 lbs?

EAA/IMC Club, through the EAA's global Chapter structure, provides organized "hangar flying" focused on building instrument flying knowledge and skills. The program's network promotes a safety culture through continued education and believes that we develop safety and proficiency through education and real-life experience. Through the FAA Safety Program, aviation professionals provide informative WINGS presentations. You do not have to be an instrument-rated pilot to attend.

What is the EAA/IMC Club?

EAA/IMC Club is the brainchild of Radek Wyrzykowski, Instrument and Multi-Engine Instructor. As a flight instructor in Norwood, Massachusetts, Radek developed a volunteer mentor program to help instrument pilots improve their proficiency, and they loved it. The EAA/IMC Club membership is encouraged but not required to participate in this meeting. For more information and to participate in this event, click the link below and register TODAY!

What is the purpose of the EAA/IMC Club?

At EAA/IMC Club, we aim to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety. Along with IFR flying and monthly local meetings, we offer a resource-rich website with an electronic experience base.

We intend to create a community of pilots to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying. EAA/IMC Club offers monthly meetings where pilots can network and share knowledge and experiences.

Do you need to bring anything?

First, bring your thoughts or story and be willing to share them with the group. This meeting is very interactive. Participation by the group is a fundamental element of the EAA/IMC Club meeting.

Others have found it helpful to bring along a copy of their flight manual, GPS manual, and charts. If you navigate with an iPad, bring it along.

Who can attend?

You don't need an instrument rating to attend. This meeting is open to all current, non-current, and future instrument pilots.
