Brief Description:

This is a renewal year and IA renewals may be completed at the seminar.Attached is a copy of  FAA Form 8610-1 for renewing your Inspection Authorization along with a copy of an Activity Record and the Pilot's Bill of Rights. If you are renewing the day of the seminar, submit the completed forms and documents when you sign-in. 2 copies of FAA Form 8610-1 completed and original signature, filled out and signed Pilots Bill of Rights, a copy of your Activity Record and any other documentation to substantiate your renewal. This will be used to verify that you have been actively engaged, meeting the requirements for renewal in accordance with 14 CFR Part 65.93 for the periods of  April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 for the first year and also April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023.for the second year.; If you are planning to use the March 3 seminar to renew, your Certificate of Training will be provided at the conclusion of the seminar.

You may also choose to submit your renewal in IACRA.  You must have an account set up in IACRA. IA renewal applications will open in IACRA on February 1, 2023 but will not be processed until the month of March. Using IACRA for your IA renewal helps cut down on errors and ensures a timely re-authorization. If you are not an IACRA account holder, use the guide to help you set one up.

The guidance used by FAA personnel to review Inspection Authorization renewals has been recently revised. IA’s will find it helpful to look at this document to better understand what the FAA is looking for in an IA renewal. Interested IA’s may find the guidance on the FAA’s Dynamic Regulatory System (DRS) under the category Order 8900.1, Flight Standards Information Management System, 8900.1 Contents, Volume 5, Chapter 5, Section 8.
