Speaker(s):
Mark Auer & Paul Gillenwater, GL07 FAASTeam
Brief Description:

The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have determined that a significant number of general aviation fatalities could be avoided if pilots were to conduct more thorough preflight inspections of aircraft that have just been returned to service. In-flight emergencies have been the direct result of maintenance personnel who have serviced or installed systems incorrectly.

The Service Difficulty Reporting Program is a fast and convenient way for owners and operators to share critical system and component failure information on their aircraft model with others in a searchable database.  This information can be used in troubleshooting and preparations for inspections as well as good planning information for prebuy inspections.  These data entries are also used in accident investigations and are the source of Service Letter and Bulletins as well as Airworthiness Directives and it's all at your fingertips.
