Title:
AOPAs Jamie Beckett Discusses Non-Towered Airport Operations
Topic:
Jamie Beckett, AOPA Ambassador, Discusses This Major Risk Area of General Aviation!
Date and Time:
Thursday, September 15, 2022, starting at 19:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Mr. Jamie Beckett, AOPA Ambassador
Brief Description:

Many pilots assume, in error, that a non-towered airport is an uncontrolled airport. Nothing could be further from the truth. There are simple, well-established rules of operation for any pilot flying into or out of a non-towered airport. Learning these simple procedures, respecting the importance of implementing them in a predictable manner, and following through whenever you operate in a non-towered airport environment, can significantly enhance safety and prevent accidents. Come prepared to discuss your habits and learn new methods. With more than 20,000 non-towered airports operating in the United States, the material covered in this presentation may be the most practical and powerful information you encounter all year.   Make plans to attend this FREE two-hour presentation!

The Orlando FSDO-15 FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam), along with your local Treasure Coast FAASTeam, encourages all aviation safety minded individuals to come and attend our every third Thursday of the month safety seminars.

Prior to attending a safety seminar, please review and abide by current CDC, State and Local health guidelines.

Additional Event Information & Acknowledgement of Industry Sponsor(s):

Jamie Beckett serves as AOPA’s You Can Fly Ambassador to Florida. He’s tasked with guiding and supporting individuals and groups with an interest in general aviation by assisting flight schools, flying clubs, high school STEM program participants, and even bringing lapsed pilots back to currency through AOPA’s tremendously successful Rusty Pilot seminars. His preferred mode of transportation is a bright yellow and black Cessna 152 that’s been rebuilt to better-than-new standards, which he often refers to as his company car. Jamie holds commercial land and sea ratings for airplanes, as well as instrument and multi-engine instructor ratings.

An A&P mechanic with a penchant for the classics and a frequent contributor to a wide variety of aviation publications, Jamie’s passion for general aviation is truly infectious.

The Treasure Coast FAASTeam gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Skyborne Airline Academy Vero Beach for providing the use of a classroom and media equipment for our monthly Thursday evening FAASTeam seminars.
