This is the second of three safety seminars on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Presentations will review Aeronautical Decision Making, PIC final authority, and present materials pertinent to safe operation of aircraft.

The PIC of an aircraft is the final authority for operation of the aircraft on the ramp (briefing passengers - seat belts, comfort, and other passenger safety items), on the runway, and in the air. Good decisions (Aeronautical Decision Making) are essential for safe, accident free operations. What are "good" decisions? Why do pilots make "bad" decisions? Pre-flight actions include the aircraft pre-flight inspection where you assure it is airworthy and SAFE to fly, review of the airport environment, aircraft performance and "all information" pertinent to the flight. What must you, the pilot, know? How do Rx and over the counter drugs affect us? Can you (the pilot) have a beer before flying home from the airport barbeque? Or a joint?. How can we prepare to fly into towered (or non-towered) airports, or in congested airspace? When do we contact ATC. What is an "ATIS" or "AWOS"?

A brief self evaluation will be completed by each participant through each seminar to assess their understanding of materials and concepts.

This seminar is made possible by the generous efforts of the Aviation Department of Big Bend Community College.
