Introduction

Everything we do learning to fly, we do for a reason—but it’s not always the reason you might think. In this program we’ll look at two Federal regulations and two training maneuvers and explore the real reasons they exist and are taught.

The goal is to develop insights that will make it easier to present these topics to your students and clients, and to reinforce the relevance of knowing these rules and maneuvers as they apply to everyday flight.

The topics we’ll cover include:

  • VFR flight visibility and cloud clearance requirements
  • The Lazy 8 Commercial Pilot maneuver
  • Minimum safe altitudes
  • The VMC Demonstration for pilots of piston twins
