This course will help you understand how and why accidents occur when the engine quits running. You will also learn how to mitigate and reduce your odds of having an engine failure. You will also learn what procedures should be taken and landing options when the engine fails. Not all failures are mechanical; many are the result of pilot error.
PRESENTER - LYNNWOOD "WOODY" MINAR
After retiring from the Central Intelligence Agency, Woody started his flight training in January 2000. Some 9,000 hours later, Woody is a Designated Pilot Examiner for the Minneapolis FSDO, a six time NAFI Master CFI with Commercial Airplane Single Engine Land and Sea, Multi-engine Land and Sea, and Glider certificates. Additionally, he is a CFII, MEI, CFI-G, IGI, and AGI. He is an FAA Safety Team Lead Representative and is a seminar presenter for the FAA and AOPA at Oshkosh every year.
Woody received the Minneapolis FSDO 2009 and 2012 Flight Instructor of the Year and the Great Lakes Region 2012 Flight Instructor of the Yearawards. He is also the recipient of the 2013 Minneapolis FSDO and Great Lakes Region FAA Safety Team Representative of the year award.
He is currently an independent instructor in Osceola, WI and for Adventure Seaplanes in Lino Lakes, MN and Lake Wales, FL. Woody is also a Contributing Editor for Midwest Flyer Magazine.
