REVIEW
-Minimum age 16. However, FAA Remote Pilot Knowledge Exam may be taken at age 14.
-Certificate valid for 2 calendar years
-Part 61 manned aircraft pilots who meet biennial flight review requirements can take an online course at www.faasafety.gov in lieu of completing the FAA Remote Pilot Knowledge Exam.
-All other Remote Pilot applicants must take a 60 question knowledge exam at an FAA authorized testing center.
-Recurrent training requirement is to pass a 40 question Remote Pilot Recurrent Knowledge Exam at an FAA authorized testing center, or if certificate holder is a current Part 61 pilot, complete an online recurrent training course at www.faasafety.gov within the previous 24 calendar months.
-No medical certificate required.
-sUAS remote pilots must display remote pilot certificate, government issued photo identification, and the sUAS FAA registration certificate if requested by FAA or law enforcement personnel.
-Persons not certified as FAA Remote Pilot may manipulate the controls of a sUAS if supervised by an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate Holder who is able to immediately take control of the sUAS if necessary.
sUAS Registration
-All UAS weighing more than .55 lbs must be registered.
-Person registering sUAS must be at least 13 years of age.
-Registration is valid for 2 calendar years.
-Registration must be displayed on exterior of sUAS (recent change).
